Production at the UK’s largest oil field has been halted after smoke was seen on an installation at the weekend.
Output was suspended from Nexen’s Buzzard development after smoke was emitted from a gas compressor on one of its platforms.
A spokeswoman for Nexen said no one was hurt in the incident and repair work was under way. She added that production, halted while maintenance was carried out, was expected to restart over the next two days. The Health and Safety Executive confirmed it had launched an investigation.
