Ocean Rig UDW has received a letter of award for its ultra-deepwater drillship Ocean Rig Olympia for a three-year contract working offshore West Africa.
The charter “by a major oil company” is worth some $652million and is expected to start in direct continuation of the Ocean Rig Olympia’s existing contract in West Africa.
The Norwegian contractor said that its client would have the option to extend the contract for two periods of one year each.
With this latest fixture, Ocean Rig no longer has any rigs available in 2012. The Ocean Rig Olympia is currently working offshore Ghana on behalf of Tullow Oil on the Deepwater Tano block.
