Babcock Aviaiton has released a video of a search and rescue (SAR) training operation off the coast of Aberdeen.
The firm’s Oil and Gas SAR team are seen in the footage winching down from a helicopter in a mock exercise to recover a dummy from a liferaft.
Urbane Media captured the video earlier this month in choppy North Sea waters, with Aberdeen harbour and the beach boulevard seen in the background.
The life raft type will be familiar to anyone who has had to carry out their offshore HUET/BOSIET survival training, where climbing into one in full kit is a staple.
Babcock Aviation put the video out on social media.
It said: “Our Search and Rescue (SAR) teams in Aberdeen have decades of experience, but working in the hostile North Sea means there’s no margin for error.
“Our crews go through extensive training to ensure their skills stay sharp and their knowledge of lifesaving tools and techniques is world-class.
“Like all those on the frontline of emergency services, they stand ready to help people in need when it matters the most.
“A SAR training session was captured on film by Urbane Media last week; it gives a great glimpse into a routine team training session.”
The firm, a subsidiary of the namesake engineering giant, has its main oil and gas hangar for the UK in Dyce.
