With the steady expansion of the renewable-energy industry, Survitec has launched a wind-power immersion suit.
Designed to meet the transportation and operational challenges of the offshore wind-power industry, it uses Outlast materials for enhanced insulation and thermal comfort.
James Cook, commercial manager at Survitec Aberdeen said: “Utilising end-user feedback from our key marine and aviation stakeholder customers, we have developed an immersion suit that provides the ultimate thermal and survival performance.”
“Our development approach has been to provide an immersion suit that is fully compatible with both marine and aviation conformance standards, while meeting the comfort and operational demands of our customers personnel.”
The outer shell is waterproof, breathable and inherently flame-retardant, while the thermal lining uses Outlast PCM (Phase Change Materials) to control the microclimate inside the suit.
“There is a bonded antimicrobial layer of 99.9% silver to ensure the material remains fresh, and a 3mm layer which traps warm air, providing more insulation.”
Survitec Group designs, manufactures and supplies bespoke survival safety equipment to the oil and gas, offshore renewable, search-and-rescue and military sectors, providing comprehensive product life-cycle service and support management.
The company manages its own fleet including servicing, laundry and repair totalling 500,000 turnaround cycles per annum.
