North Star Shipping, a division of Aberdeen-based Craig Group, said yesterday it had collected an international award from one of the world’s leading health and safety bodies for the 11th year in a row.
The British Safety Council has presented North Star with its international safety award with merit following assessment by an independent panel.
North Star managing director Callum Bruce said: “This is an outstanding achievement and reflects the importance we place on safety at North Star Shipping.
“With more than 1,000 people involved in our operations in some of the most challenging conditions, we are justifiably proud of these results and of our crew and staff’s commitment to a living safety culture.”
The North Star fleet stands at 35 vessels and includes a mix of platform-supply, tanker-assist, remotely operated vehicle survey, plus emergency-response and rescue vessels.
Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council said: “For more than 50 years, we have led the way in promoting health, safety and environmental best practice in society.
“In the 21st century, many organisations worldwide are now making health and safety a top priority.
“Through achieving an international safety award, North Star Shipping is helping to make our vision of a safe working environment a reality.”
