Technip has been awarded a large subsea installation contract by Shell for the Prelude FLNG (floating liquefied natural gas facility to be moored in 240m of water, 200km off the north-west coast of Australia, in the Browse Basin.
The company said the contract, value not disclosed, calls for the provision of project management, fabrication, transport, and installation by reeling of 12-inch corrosion resistant alloy clad rigid flowlines; the onshore fabrication of PLETs, flowline appurtenances, and rigid spools; the transport and installation of the subsea equipment including manifolds, umbilical termination assemblies, rigid spools and flying leads; and the management of key interfaces with the hook-up and commissioning of the FLNG facility with timely transport, installation, and handover of the flexible risers and umbilical.
Technip’s operating centres in Perth, Australia, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will execute the contract, with engineering to commence immediately.
The company’s spoolbase in Orkanger, Norway, will be welding the flowline linepipe provided by Shell.
Vessels from the company’s fleet will be used for the offshore campaigns, including the Deep Energy and the Deep Orient.
Meanwhile, Aker Solutions has signed a $72million contract with McDermott International for umbilicals for the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, also offshore Western Australia.
McDermott is the main EPCI contractor for the Ichthys gas-condensate field development subsea umbilical, riser, flowline (SURF) project on behalf of operator Inpex.
The package awarded to Aker calls for provision of the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and supply of static and dynamic umbilicals, totalling 63km for the project. The key equipment within this contract comprise five dynamic umbilicals, seven static umbilicals, 36 steel tube flying leads, and associated equipment and hardware.
The umbilicals and flying leads will be manufactured and delivered by Aker Solutions’ facility in Moss, Norway, and supported by the project management, design, and engineering teams in Fornebu, Norway. The expected delivery date is the fourth quarter of 2014.
