The waiting is almost over for Scotland’s big night out to celebrate the energy industry.
Around 1,400 guests will gather at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre tomorrow night for the annual Press and Journal Energy Ball, held in association with haulage firm Grampian Continental.
Damian Bates, editor of the Press and Journal, said: “The Energy Ball is a sell-out once again, with this year seeing more guests than ever before and proving to be the biggest event of its kind in Scotland.
“It promises to be a fabulous night of entertainment with great food and fabulous company; a night not to be forgotten in a hurry.
“I’m really excited at the prospect of the entertainment on offer and I’m sure people will go home having had a fantastic evening.”
This is the fifth year of the black-tie event, and the musical line-up includes the Magic of Soul & Motown and electric string quartet Escala.
The official charity for the night is, once again, Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal.
The 2011 ball gave a £30,000 boost to the campaign which is raising £3million for a new centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The facility, which will provide practical and emotional support to people with cancer and their loved ones, is expected to open next year.
Organiser George Walker said: “The ball is regarded as the most prominent event of the energy industry’s business and social-networking calendar, welcoming the top ‘movers and shakers’.
“We have been working hard on putting this event together for the last 12 months and it promises to be the best Energy Ball there has been.”
Last year’s guests were greeted by a transformed Press and Journal Arena, and this year will be no different. Attractions this time around will include luxury cars, a helicopter and a casino.
