Instrumentation and control systems firm EFC Group has said a partnership launched in Norway early in 2011 is on track to reach £2million turnover this year.
The tie-up with Norwegian oilfield supplier Mento Group saw EFC introduce niche specialised equipment to Norway-based mobile operated drilling unit (MODU) operations.
It has so far had sales of £150,000 but that is expected to grow at an accelerated level once a mechanical handling service is fully launched, said EFC Group, which is exhibiting at ONS.
This will include blowout preventer transport and vertical and horizontal pipe handling, adding to existing well control instrumentation work.
Contracts have already included work for drilling rigs including the Maersk Guardian, COSL Pioneer and COSL Innovator as well as Odfjell Drilling.
Bob Will, EFC Group’s chief executive, said: “Embarking upon this partnership with Mento has been a very positive move for EFC Group, allowing us to expand our European operations. Securing new business during the first 12 months of this relationship, as well as conducting a significant amount of introductions and relationship development with Mento, has been extremely encouraging.”
Electro-Flow Controls was set up in 1988 and, following a management buy-in during December 2009, became EFC Group.
It employs about 90 staff, which is expected to grow to about 100 by the end of the year, and its turnover for 2011-12 was about £11.5million.
The partnership is represented by Mento’s team in Stavanger, Bergen and Kristiansund supported by EFC staff from Aberdeen.
Mento is a specialist in rental, production, testing and service of hoses and fittings, valves, filters, pipes and drilling equipment.
