Primary school pupils from Aberdeen City & Shire have picked up awards for their green energy projects in a UK-wide contest.
Longhaven Primary School, near Peterhead, was crowned the Scottish Champions of the Total Green School Awards.
They had impressed judges with their Totally Powered Up Eco Den project. This saw them give an old school shed a complete make-over complete with a bicycle turned into a mini power station and solar panels for lighting.
Culter Primary won the Totally Creative award and Aberdeen’s Hanover Street Primary won the Totally Active award.
Culter’s project involved the pupils turning household waste into art for a local sheltered housing complex – Coronation Court.
Hanover Street Primary School raised money for a new grass area in what had previously been a muddy patch on the edge of the school playground.
