Industry body Decom North Sea (DNS) is set to broaden the sector’s horizons via a one-day, virtual event later this month.
Taking place on 28 January, Decom Futures is free to attend, with a focus upon decommissioning applications across the wider energy industry, including the renewable and nuclear energy sectors.
Sessions focusing on these sectors will be chaired by Zero Waste Scotland and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, whilst discussion on the future of oil and gas decommissioning will be led by Decom North Sea interim Managing Director and industry market expert, Will Rowley.
Commenting on the objective behind the event, Will said: “Decom Future is an expert-led, interactive event, which will examine upcoming decommissioning developments.
“The agenda has been created specifically to raise some detailed, and perhaps difficult, questions on where the sector is headed, and address how businesses can take a pragmatic approach to challenges – and indeed, cross-sector opportunities – to come.”
Decom North Sea has also announced the appointment of Anthony Fievez, Commercial Manager of Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), to its Board of Directors.
Previously an active member of the DNS Decommissioning Leadership Group, Anthony comments: “Through my experience, I believe that DNS has become a highly effective supply chain forum for the decommissioning sector.
“I look forward to representing the Tier One contractor community in my new role, whilst providing an effective link to the wider supply chain and promoting supplier-led solutions to increase the circular decommissioning possibilities of both oil and gas and renewables facilities.”
Decom North Sea Chair, Jinda Nelson added: “We are delighted to welcome Anthony to our Board of Directors, where his in-depth knowledge – together with an array of high-profile decommissioning project experience and a passion for supply chain-driven innovation – wholly reflect the ongoing objective to create a sustainable decommissioning sector.
“Through his role with HMC, he not only brings an invaluable level of future project insight to the organisation, but also a wealth of industry know-how and an exceptional network.”
