A North Sea floating production vessel is due to come back on stream after being shut down since early June following a minor gas leak.
Maersk FPSOs’ Maersk Curlew, which is contracted to Shell’s Curlew field, had a leak on its gas compressor system on June 1.
No one was injured and it was resolved within half an hour, a spokesman for the firm said.
However, following a visit from the Health and Safety Executive, a prohibition notice was issued on the compressor and Maersk said it decided to shut in the vessel, 136 miles east of Aberdeen.
“We decided to shut down the unit to make sure we went through everything on it,” said a spokeswoman.
The vessel was also due for a planned shutdown during the summer for planned work by Shell, she added, saying it was due back on stream again soon.
The Maersk Curlew is a converted tanker capable of accommodating up to 80 people. It started producing the Curlew field in 1997.
