Aberdeenshire energy service firm Red Spider Technology said yesterday it had completed its first contract in west Africa using a new product.
The Westhill business added that it had carried out the £300,000 project off the coast of Equatorial Guinea with eRed-FB, a downhole barrier which can be opened and closed remotely.
The work comes after Red Spider invested nearly £1.9million over two years in research and development of new products, including eRed-FB. Red Spider said the tool could save clients up to £530,000.
Chief executive Steve Nicol said he was delighted the project had been a success, adding Red Spider planned to use eRed-FB in other locations worldwide in addition to growing its operations in west Africa.
Last month, Red Spider won contracts worth more than £190,000 from four oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico.
