Helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter claims the EC225 Super Puma is the preferred choice of oil and gas operators.
It says 900 of the aircraft have been ordered in 52 countries, while the Super Puma fleet has logged more than 4.4million hours.
Eurocopter says integrating latest technologies makes the new-generation aircraft a leader in flight safety. The EC225 is a five-bladed helicopter used by more than 1,000 civil operators and 37 national militaries around the world.
It can carry up to 24 passengers and is usually flown by a crew of two pilots. It has a maximum speed of 174mph, usually flies at 2,000ft, and can stay airborne for more than 500 miles without refuelling.
Eurocopter group was created in 1992 with the merger between the helicopter divisions of Aerospatiale-matra of France and Daimler Chrysler Aerospace of Germany.
The group is now owned by EADS (the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) – one of the largest aerospace groups in the world, and a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services, employing nearly 135,000 people at more than 170 sites worldwide.
The group is an Airbus aircraft manufacturer.
