The man who rescued the offshore workers and pilots caught up in Monday’s helicopter ditching has revealed that he originally feared two people were missing under the waves.
All 19 people on board the aircraft were saved by a fast rescue craft launched from the tanker Nord Nightingale, which was close to the scene.
The ship’s master, Captain Bo Rosenborg, told the Press and Journal yesterday that the men on board said a problem with the Eurocopter chopper’s gearbox was behind the drama.
