The Offshore Contractors Association held its 18th annual challenge awards in Aberdeen last night.
Sparrows Offshore Services, Wood Group PSN and Stork Technical Services were honoured at the Marcliffe Hotel event attended by 240 oil and gas industry representatives.
Katy Crawford, of Sparrows, received the future star award for training.
Having joined the company from university in September 2011, she impressed the judges with her enthusiasm and commitment to developing her own skills and contributing to the wider team.
Wood Group PSN’s Hummingbird team collected the award for health, safety and environment for its shutdown of the Hummingbird floating production installation.
The shutdown planning was carried out in just six weeks, allowing essential inspection and maintenance work to be carried out with no incidents.
The innovation award went to Stork Technical Services to acknowledge its development of the first hot bolt clamp technology. The technology is said to be safer, more reliable and cost effective than existing stud bolt removal systems.
Offshore Contractors Association chief executive Bill Murray said: “These awards were established to recognise the outstanding contribution of our members to safety, innovation, training, and to the industry as a whole. The standard of nominations was exceptionally high this year and I’d like to acknowledge the achievements of all our nominees.
“Katy stood out to our panel of judges in particular because of her proactive work to encourage young people to consider a career in offshore engineering.
“The scale of opportunity in the oil and gas industry is substantial, and it’s great to see our members working to spread that message. Attracting new talent into the industry is something the OCA is strongly committed to and so we are delighted to be able to commend Katy’s efforts through this award.”
