Energy service company Senergy is to help Aberdeen University develop its oil and gas training centre.
Granite City-based Senergy said yesterday it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the university to support exploHUB, which focuses on hydrocarbon exploration. The organisations will mainly work together on promoting exploHUB, finding trainees for the centre and training Senergy staff.
Senergy vice-president of technical excellence and knowledge management Iain Morrison said: “The continuous training of outstanding exploration geoscientists is essential to the future of our industry. Senergy and exploHUB are both committed to technical excellence and we are delighted to sign this agreement, which will allow us to co-operate in a number of projects initially.
“In the current environment, where there is fierce competition to attract and retain key people, this serves to remind us that the only way to sustain our industry is to invest in the training of new people and skills to ensure its long-term future prosperity.”
ExploHUB director Stuart Archer said both the training centre and Senergy recognised the importance of training the next generation of oil explorers.
