ITF has revealed the identity of its new chief executive.
The Aberdeen-based oil and gas industry technology facilitator said Patrick O’Brien, group director of strategic business and marketing at Wood Group Kenny, would take on the role from April 1.
The organisation was previously led by a managing director, Neil Poxon, who resigned last July after six years at the helm and has since moved to the US to run and grow a young oilfield service company.
ITF is a not-for-profit business owned by 29 international oil and gas operator and service companies working together to champion technology innovation.
Since its formation in 1999, it has played a key role in more than 190 joint industry initiatives from early stage projects through to field trials and commercialisation.
It has dozens of ongoing projects linked to £16million direct member investment and aims to secure a further £50million by 2015.
Mr O’Brien, a chartered engineer with nearly 30 years’ oil and gas experience, will be responsible for driving forward its growth plans.
The Subsea UK director and Aberdeen University honorary professor said: “I want ITF to play a central role in the development of an oil and gas technology development strategy for the future of the UK continental shelf.”
