The boss of Prosafe is “extremely disappointed” by an appeal court decision to make the offshore accommodation provider pay Westcon Yards £40 million.
Stavanger District Court in 2018 ordered Westcon to cough up £30.6m to Prosafe over a dispute relating to the conversion of the Safe Scandinavia into a tender support vessel.
But Gulating Court of Appeal this week upheld Westcon’s challenge, in what Prosafe described as a “complete reversal”.
Prosafe said the judgement from a Court of Appeal was usually final, with the possibilities of further appeal “very limited”.
Chief executive Jesper Andresen said he was “surprised” and found it difficult to understand how two courts could reach “such complete opposite results”.
