Subsea engineering specialist CSL plans to take on a further 60 people this year after acquiring fellow Aberdeen firm Project Excellence.
CSL said all 25 people at the project and risk-management business would transfer across to the larger company, taking its total workforce to nearly 150.
The recruitment is expected to continue throughout 2013 and CSL, founded 13 years ago, is targeting a north-east workforce of almost 210 by the end of this year.
Project Excellence was acquired from its joint partners, Clive Randall and Mike Howard, for an undisclosed sum and has been renamed as CSL Project Excellence. Both men are staying on under the new ownership.
CSL managing director Sean Girvan said: “We have built up a strong reputation over the years through delivering successful projects, whether short or long-term, for our numerous and varied clients.
“The CSL Project Excellence team will be critical in driving the business forward as we look to grow the business further to continue delivering value to our clients.”
Mr Girvan, appointed last October after the departure of Neil Knowles, added: “We are delighted to have not only acquired a company with the expertise of Project Excellence but also to have retained the highly skilled staff, who I’m sure will contribute greatly to our future success.”
Mr Randall said: “We believe in the strategic fit between the companies and see a great opportunity to contribute to the growth of CSL’s core subsea projects business.”
In addition to its Aberdeen HQ, CSL has offices in London and Stavanger.
