Shell and Deltic have hired Fugro to carry out a site survey of its Pensacola prospect ahead of an exploration well being drilled.
Fugro will begin its work, a geophysical and geotechincal study, at the end of July 2021, to be completed in the third quarter of the year.
Pensacola is expected to be drilled in May 2022 as a high-impact exploration well.
Shell farmed into the prospect in 2019, taking a 70% stake in the P2252 licence.
Deltic estimates the prospect contains gross P50 resources of 309 billion cubic feet of gas.
CEO of Deltic, Graham Swindells, said: “The commissioning of the site survey is a key part of the well planning process and represents an important milestone as the Joint Venture continues the preparatory works required in advance of the drilling of the high impact exploration well on the Pensacola prospect.
“We look forward to continuing to progress through the planning phase towards drilling in May 2022.”
