Aberdeen company Flexlife, a specialist provider of flexible-pipe technologies and engineering services, yesterday reported major growth at its Newcastle base since opening 18 months ago.
The site has grown from three to 24 employees, with turnover since start-up of £1.5million-plus.
Andy Lake, originally appointed to head up the office as director of operations, has recently been given an additional role of company-wide director of flexible-pipe technology.
He said: “We are thrilled with the progression the Newcastle office has seen. We have surpassed our growth expectations and have built up a highly qualified team to execute projects around the globe.
“We work closely alongside the Aberdeen office and anticipate further growth in our operations over the coming year.”
Flexlife chief executive Ciaran O’Donnell said: “With our growth in Newcastle, Flexlife has continued to build on its reputation for offering a complete subsea integrity and project-management package, assisting clients to cost-effectively manage all of their subsea assets and infrastructure. Essentially, we help give our clients peace of mind that they have accurate data on their subsea equipment and the Newcastle base has played a major role in this.”
Flexlife has a team of around 100 subsea engineers and support staff. in addition to its UK bases, the firm has centres in the US and Brazil.
Facility-engineering company Fabricom Offshore Services says it has gone 1million man hours without any serious incidents.
The firm – which employs 320 people across its Aberdeen, Newcastle and Teesside bases – said its safety record started when it was founded in 2007, and it had not recorded any lost-time incidents since.
