A trio of north-east firms have won contracts in Ghana after Scottish Development International trade missions to west Africa.
Paradigm Flow Services, OnlinE Valves and Optima Solutions UK secured orders worth more than £1million.
James Padgham, operations manager at Aberdeen-based OnlinE Valves, set up last year, said: “We always knew there was potential for our business in west Africa.
“As we’re such a young company it was doubtful that we would have been able to have such a quick success without going out to see the market for ourselves and meeting contacts face-to-face.”
Scottish Enterprise chief executive Lena Wilson, who led the last trade mission in November, said: “I was hugely impressed by the potential opportunities for Scottish companies in Ghana.
“Last year, Ghana recorded economic growth of almost 8%, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It is also the west Africa centre of operations for many key players in the oil and gas sector.
“Scottish companies need to be thinking now about the potential that this could offer to their business.”
