Statoil said it hoped to find a permanent base for its Aberdeen employees by the end of the year.
The Norwegians currently have a small team working out of temporary offices in the city centre, but want to take on at least 200 people in the Granite City in the coming years and are looking for offices. The Aberdeen base will oversee Statoil’s UK operations, including the Mariner and Bressay developments.
Statoil’s vice-president for Western Europe, Morten Ruud, said the company was in the market and assessing several potential sites.
“If you listen to the taxi drivers in Aberdeen then it sounds like we have already made a decision, but we are not quite there yet,” he said.
“The reality is that we are exploring several opportunities within Aberdeen and hope to have found a suitable location by the end of the year,” added Mr Ruud.
