Construction services firm Speedy has opened a new regional base to support the oil and gas sector in Aberdeen.
The new 13,200 square foot centre in Denmore Industrial Estate is a third larger than the firm’s two previous outlets combined in the city, bringing its fleet under one roof and expanding the available tools and equipment available.
Speedy said the facility will employ 10 staff and is set to make new hires over the coming 12 months to meet growing demand.
The company said the site will also provide fencing and crowd control solutions to support the recovery of the region’s events industry.
Colin Mill, centre manager for Aberdeen, said: “Our new Aberdeen base will bring lifting services back into the city to meet significant local demand from the large base of companies in the area that support offshore operations in the North Sea.
“The new site occupies a strategic location just 11 minutes from the city centre, which will provide our customers with better access to the tools and equipment they need and a fast, reliable service through our UK-wide four-hour delivery promise.”
Contractors will now have access to plant and powered access machinery, as well as site survey and lifting equipment to meet high levels of local demand from firms working across the oil and gas sector.
The extra space would allow the facility to accommodate customer training across a range of courses, including safe working at height.
Speedy is a provider of tools and equipment to customers to the construction, infrastructure and industrial markets, with more than 20 sites across Scotland.
