Clyde Training Solutions (CTS), recognised as the premier marine and offshore training centre in the central belt of Scotland, is expanding its GWO renewables training infrastructure and course offering.
Recognised since 2018 as a GWO certified training provider, CTS has invested further in a dedicated GWO training facility featuring amongst other infrastructure two training towers for working at height and advanced rescue training.
The expanded course offering will deliver all five industry safety training modules: working at height, sea survival, fire awareness, manual handling and first aid, with advanced rescue training to follow soon after.
Courses are scheduled to begin in mid-September 2021, pending successful GWO certification.
John Abate, director, Clyde Training Solutions, said: “At Clyde Training Solutions we are proud to deliver a diverse offering of quality, multi-industry training to an international customer base.
“The investment in GWO infrastructure and industry experienced training personnel is a tangible statement of intent in supporting the renewables sector.
“It will allow wind sector professionals the opportunity to undertake all their required safety training at one accessible site in Glasgow.”
Future renewables-associated technical training, and an optional complimentary working at height virtual reality initiative will place CTS as one of the very few providers globally that can deliver a comprehensive, multi-technology GWO training offering.
Before embarking on the physical training, delegates will be offered immersive virtual reality training, walking them through all the required steps as they prepare for and then enter the wind turbine nacelle.
Abate, who has overseen the creation of GWO training facilities in several locations throughout the UK, Taiwan, and the US east coast during his career, added: “We believe this additional VR training – at no extra cost – will be extremely valuable for new entrants to the sector.
“In keeping with our ethos of ‘Competency beyond Compliance’, it will allow them to familiarise themselves with the environments they will be working in, before undertaking the physical training.”
Using an innovative blend of traditional and digital training, CTS is designing and implementing customer specific solutions that improve sector safety, competency, and commercial operational performance for the end client.
Kris McDonald, general manager, added: “It’s an exciting time at Clyde Training Solutions. Our drive and commitment to grow our status as an internationally recognised multi-technology training centre of choice is evidenced by this recent investment.
“Whilst a perceived demise of global hydrocarbon-based industries is a little premature, what is clear is that society’s move to a more carbon neutral economy is accelerating every year.
“We will play our part in supporting that transition by leading in the delivery of training programmes that will ensure competent, qualified sector professionals are in place.”
