All-Energy 2013, the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition and conference opens in Aberdeen two weeks today – with organisers expecting the show to reach the largest audience yet.
The two-day event, which will be opened by Energy Secretary Ed Davey and Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing, will take place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on May 22-23.
Last year’s conference was attended by more than 8,300 people from 49 countries, with more than 380 speakers booked to talk at a mixture of conference and seminar events this time around.
Jonathan Heastie, of organiser Reed Exhibitions, said: “Each year, All-Energy provides an unparalleled opportunity to see the latest cutting-edge solutions, hear about policy and technology developments, source new partners and suppliers and participate in networking events.
“As the exhibition is so large, we have visitor trails to help those attending the show find the way to the exhibitors.”
He added that, of the dozen or so “trails”, more than 157 firms will be exhibiting on onshore wind and 137 on wave and tidal alone.
He said: “All the component parts are in place for a highly successful event and our traditional Giant Networking Evening, which does exactly what it says ‘on the tin’, is set to attract more than a thousand people.”
The exhibition will include three seminar areas and three dedicated zones for business energy efficiency, low-carbon transport and jobs.
Judith Patten, the event’s project director, said: “The conference programme encompasses all renewable and sustainable energy sectors, business energy efficiency and also looks at the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
“Our speakers read like a ‘who’s who’ of the renewable-energy sector and we know there will be lively discussion in many of the sessions.”
The conference programme includes seven sessions on offshore wind, seven on wave and tidal power, with further sessions aimed at those involved with community renewables.
The international reach of the show has been strengthened by an increase in the number of countries represented through UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
Commercial officers from UKTI and selected international buyers from more than 22 countries, including Brazil, Canada, China and Mexico will be present for one-to-one sessions.
Attendance at All-Energy 2013 is free of charge for all with a professional interest in renewable and sustainable energy and business energy efficiency – online registration and the full list of conference topics and overall programme are available at www.all-energy.co.uk
