Day One gets off to a flying start with DECC’s Secretary of State, Rt Hon Edward Davey MP and Fergus Ewing MSP, The Scottish Government’s Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, speaking along with: Lord Provost George Adam, the Lord Provost of the City of Aberdeen; Lady Susan Rice CBE, Managing Director, Lloyds Banking Group Scotland; Huub den Rooijen, Head of Offshore Wind Energy, The Crown Estate; and Benj Sykes, UK Country Manager, Wind Power, DONG Energy. The conference then breaks into parallel sessions, ten on Day One and nine on Day Two.
The All-Energy 2013 offshore wind sessions are sponsored by The Crown Estate, wave and tidal sessions numbers 4-7 are sponsored by 40South Energy, and the inaugural All-Energy Community Energy Room by Endurance Wind Power. There are some amazing conference statistics – over 72 hours of conference sessions, some 16 hours of which are devoted to offshore wind, and 15 hours to wave and tidal; but it doesn’t stop there!

Want an update on the UK Green Investment Bank and Scottish Investment Bank – All-Energy’s got it. Wanting your company to be “investor ready”? There will be advice in plenty in a special session. How about EMR? Thursday’s lunchtime Question Time is a “must”. Maitland Mackie CBE promises to make everyone sit up and take notice when he speaks in the Renewables for the Farming Community session on the theme of “Farmers are at the Core of an Extraordinary Potential to Decentralise and Democratise the Energy Systems of the World”. . .
Onshore wind, hydropower, bioenergy, onsite and microgeneration naturally all figure on the programme. And as you will read further on, UK Trade & Investment have three extraordinarily useful sessions labelled: dealing with marine energy globally; offshore wind opportunities in Northern Europe; and the opportunities in the emerging markets of Chile, Indonesia and India.
What’s the current state of play on carbon capture and storage, on geothermal, on nuclear? – yes, speakers are here to bring you up to date. Hydrogen and Fuel cells are much in evidence thanks to the H2FC (Hydrogen and Fuel Cells) Supergen Conference on Day One and two sessions on hydrogen and fuel cells (one on the exciting plans here in Aberdeen) and another on energy storage on Day Two. Energy efficiency, district heating, grid issues (four sessions on the grid), bioenergy, district heating, ESCOs, sustainable transport . . .
