The UK’s largest renewable-energy show finished yesterday at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, with attendance expected to break last year’s record number of more than 8,000 people.
All-Energy 2013, which attracted delegates from dozens of countries, had more than 7,600 visitors by mid-afternoon yesterday.
The event brought 580-plus exhibiting organisations to Aberdeen, with hundreds of hours of seminars and conferences.
Morag McCorkindale, chief operating officer of the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (Areg), said: “What everyone wants to get out of All-Energy is business and by the sound of the buzz of the conference this year, a lot of business has been done.
“Renewables can be a bit stop-start sometimes because of long development times but by the look of it more business has been done this year than usual.”
Calum Davidson, director of energy and low-carbon at Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which had 70 companies at its pavilion, said: “Wednesday was the busiest day I’ve had at All-Energy. It is very much an opportunity for the Highlands and its supply chain to show their wares to the world.”
Eileen Linklater, marketing manager at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney, said: “A lot of our customers actually have their own stands around the show so it’s a really good opportunity to hear their latest developments and create collaborative opportunities in Scotland.”
Jonathan Heastie, the event’s director, from Reed Exhibitions, said: “What a show All-Energy has been – two days of busyness within the exhibition, product launches by a larger number of our exhibitors than ever before and an exceptional conference with upbeat industry announcements made by both Energy Secretary Ed Davey and Energy Minister Fergus Ewing.”
Conference director Judith Patten, All-Energy’s co-creator, had to leave Aberdeen before the show opened because of family circumstances but said: “Little did we realise when we created All-Energy at the start of the century how big it would grow and how important it would be to the renewables industry.”
