Tanzania intends to stage an oil and gas exploration licensing round in October at which it will offer seven deep offshore blocks and one onshore block to explorers.
The round will be launched on October 25 and be open until May 15, 2014. Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation has stated that this round revives an auction originally scheduled for September last.
The 4th Tanzania Deep Offshore and North Lake Tanganyika Licensing Round will be launched in Dar es Salaam on October 25 at the 2nd Tanzania Oil and Gas Conference & Exhibition (October 23-25).
The round will include seven deep-sea sedimentary blocks, each with an average size of 3,000km, and one offshore block in Lake Tanganyika.
The two most southern blocks (Blk-4/1B & Blk-4/1C), near the border with Mozambique, that were a part of the original but postponed offering have been removed.
