Energy industry project management firm Amec is to provide engineering services for Xcite in the Bentley oil field.
The companies confirmed today they have also entered into a memorandum of understanding to support future field development.
“AMEC’s expertise in delivering challenging and complex developments, including heavy oil fields from concept to operations and maintenance, has been key in the development of our relationship with XER,” said Jim Lenton, AMEC’s European engineering director.
“Our relationship with them will see the full spectrum of our capabilities come into play in one coordinated project development.”
The value of the contract has not been announced.
The companies are preparing a front-end engineering and design programme (FEED), which will help determine the terms for a wider services agreement between Amec and Xcite for the project.
“This is another industry confirmation of Bentley as one of the largest development-ready North Sea fields and provides further, complementary support to the current farm-out process as we progress towards development,” said Xcite CEO Rupert Cole.
