The head of BP’s UK business, Louise Kingham OBE, has been further recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours list, alongside a host of energy industry figures.
Having served as CEO of the Energy Institute for more than 20 years, Ms Kingham joined BP in May 2021, succeeding Peter Mather as BP’s UK head of country and senior vice president for Europe.
She will be made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) as part of the 2022 Honours, for her work with the Institute and services to the UK energy industry.
Ms Kingham was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2011 Birthday Honours, also for services to energy.
Liz Cameron OBE, chief executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC), was also recognised, receiving a CBE for services to the promotion of Scottish and UK international trade.
Ms Cameron was previously made an OBE in 2013 for services to business and commerce.
Meanwhile Tim Allan, who stepped down as president of the SCC at the end of 2021, was rewarded for his services to business, charity and the arts.
In addition, former general secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), Grahame Smith, will also be awarded a CBE for services to the Trade Union movement and the promotion of Fair Work in Scotland.
Mr Smith stepped down from his role in May this year, after almost 15 years in charge.
John Denholm, the chairman of logistics and services provider Denholm Group, will also receive a CBE for services to the maritime sector and charities.
OBE recipients from across the energy sector include RWE Renewables’ head of regulatory affairs for the UK and Ireland, Zoe Keeton, for services to renewable energy.
Former National Grid head of futures Dr Catherine McClay was recognised for services to the energy sector and the promotion of decarbonisation, alongside Zoe Shipton, Professor of Geological Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, who receives an OBE for her work in geoscience and climate change mitigation.
Shell Energy human resources manager John Kneen will also receive an OBE for services to diversity and inclusion.
