EDF has completed work on the 27-turbine wind farm off the Teesside coast.
The first thirteen wind turbines of the 62MW facility have been put into production, with the remainder due to enter service over the next few weeks.
Construction on the facility, off Redcar, began in February 2012, with all turbines due to be connected to the national grid before the end of summer.
“By completing this project, we have further established our position as a leading player in the offshore wind energy segment and are confident in our ability to see other projects in the United Kingdom and French markets through to fruition,” said EDF chief executive Antoine Cahuzac.
The next stage for the company’s renewables plans in the UK is the Navitus Bay project – a joint venture with Eneco for up to 218 turbines off the coast of Bournemouth.
