Energy firm Wintershall has found gas in a wildcat well in the Norwegian sea – but the discovery is not expected to be commercial.
The discovery, a 14metre column of gas, was made 25km south of the Tyrihans field off Norway, but the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate confirmed today the amount discovered was between 0.55billion and 0.62billion cubic metres of recoverable gas.
Wintershall has a 25% stake in the licence alongside Petoro, Tullow, Bridge and Maersk.
