Aker Solutions is to provide up to 24 sets of splitter wellhead systems after signing a £9.7million deal with Murphy Sarawak.
The three year contract – which includes a possible one year extension, will see the company delivering ancillary equipment and services for Murphy’s block off the East Malaysian coast.
“This is the first major surface wellhead contract for Aker Solutions in Malaysia,” says Dave Hutchinson, head of Aker Solutions’ subsea operations in Asia.
“We look forward to developing our relationship with Murphy in South East Asia, where we have worked together for several years.”
Surface wellheads are used on land-based and shallow-water platforms for drilling and production equipment, with the splitter allowing drilling of multiple wells from a single slot on a platform.
The majority of the equipment will be produced at Aker’s manufacturing facility in Batam in Indonesia, while the firm’s Port Klang facility in Malaysia will produce the Shear-Safe surface gate valve actuators. Engineering and project management will take place at Aker Solutions’ offices in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
