Energy giant GDF Suez has announced Rob Buchan as the new general manager for the company’s Aberdeen office to oversee their growth in the UK.
Buchan replaces Mike Robertson, who has been named head of assets as the firm’s Norwegian arm, and will become part of the GDF Suez executive team.
He joined the firm in 2008 as operations manager for Aberdeen, after 24 years with from BP, before moving to the head office in Paris as senior vice president of operations for GDF Suez E&P International.
“GDF Suez is at a very exciting stage of its growth in the UK and I look forward to returning to Aberdeen as we prepare for first gas from Juliet and progress construction for Cygnus while pursuing an active exploration and appraisal programme,” he said.
The company, which is set to expand to new offices in Aberdeen next year, is due to bring the Juliet field in the southern North Sea on stream later this year, and the Cygnus field in 2015.
