Aker Solutions is to provide a complete topside equipment package for Caspian Drilling’s new semi-submersible rig in Azerbaijan.
The contract, the value of which has not been disclosed, comes after Aker opened a new facility in Baku last year to improve its service offerings in the region.
The company had previously delivered drilling equipment to eight rigs operating in the Caspian Sea, two of which are operated by Caspian.
“The contract confirms our strong position in the Caspian market and our long-lasting relationship with CDC,” said Roy Dyrseth, head of Aker Solutions’ drilling technologies business.
“We are pleased to secure more work in Azerbaijan after making significant investments in our infrastructure in the region.”
The equipment will mainly be constructed at Aker’s facilities in Kristiansand and Asker in Norway, with installation by the Caspian Shipyard by the end of 2016.
