Energy consultant Xodus Group said yesterday its technical safety and risk (TSR) team in Aberdeen had more than doubled in size in 18 months amid growing demand for its services.
The Granite City-based firm added it was poised to recruit a further 25 people to its 55-strong international TSR team over the next 12 months.
Maggie Leitch, TSR global director at Xodus, said that past disasters for the energy industry had highlighted the importance of a close attention to safety offshore.
She added: “Piper Alpha and the Deepwater Horizon incident drives home the crucial role of safety and environment risk management and the need to have strong procedures and processes at the core of oil and gas operations.”
Xodus said its TSR division had already secured £2million worth of contracts so far in 2013 and was targeting a figure of £5million in sales for the full year.
The group, founded in 2005, provides integrated energy services covering both oil and gas and low carbon.
Following significant investment, Xodus has grown to more than 700 people worldwide and now has offices in Dubai, Houston, Nigeria, Norway, Perth and The Hague, in addition to the UK. It aims to have 1,500 people by 2015.
The firm has TSR specialists working in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Houston, Dubai, Oslo and Perth, Australia.
Their recent projects include the provision of greenfield safety engineering for the newly installed Apache Forties Alpha satellite platform, designed and built by the north-east England-based OGN Group.
Japanese engineering giant Chiyoda recently acquired a majority stake in Xodus, announcing the move as a “strategic capital alliance”.
Xodus said that the deal, thought to be valued at about £66million, paved the way for exciting times ahead.
