Petroleum Geo-Services are to return to Canada to complete acquisition of 2D scans of the Northeast Newfoundland slope.
The company will acquire additional data over around 16,000 km of the slope in East Canada after recent discoveries suggested greater significant exploration and production potential.
“Statoil’s Mizzen discovery and the recent announcement of a light high-quality oil discovery in the Flemish Pass Basin at its Harpoon prospect support this theory and confirm potential north of the Jeanne d’Arc Basin,” the company said.
Data processed from the scans will be available by Spring of next year.
