Aset International Oil and Gas Training Academy said yesterday it had finalised an African contract worth more than £440,000.
The deal is with Learning Resources Nigeria to train 23 Nigerians for a career in the oil industry.
The contract is the outcome of a UK trade mission to Lagos, Nigeria.
While there, Aset chief executive Atholl Menzies interviewed and assisted in the selection process of a group of Nigerians to undertake specialist training to help them find employment in the industry.
Aset will now deliver the 25-week oil and gas technician programme in mechanical and electrical disciplines to the Nigerians, who arrived in Aberdeen this week. Mr Menzies said: “Through expert tuition and the opportunity to work on training facilities which replicate industry standard, by the end of their time in Aberdeen the trainees will return to their country with new skills which will equip them for the demands of the industry.”
Aset is a subsidiary of Aberdeen College. Since its inception in 1993, Aset has delivered oil and gas-related and marine training in Aberdeen to operators and contractors on the UK continental shelf and to almost every area in the world where there is oil and gas activity
