China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has made two new exploration discoveries in the Bohai Sea, off the country’s north east coast.
The Bozhong 8-4-4 well, drilled to the total depth of 1,962 meters, found oil pay zones of about 50 metres thickness, along with an 11 metre gas reservoir.
Testing of the well suggested production of around 660 barrels per day.
Meanwhile the Kenli 10-4-1 well was found to contain oil pay zones about 45 meters thick after being drilled to 2,395m. It is expected to produce around 2,800 barrels per day.
“The successful discovery of Bozhong 8-4 and KL 10-4 has extended our effective exploration activities in Bohai and further proven the rich oil and natural gas resources in this area,” said Zhu Weilin, executive vice-president at CNOOC.
