A leading sport project for young people in Scotland has joined forces with Premiership side Aberdeen for next week’s Offshore Europe conference.
The Streetsport team from Robert Gordon University will run pitches outside Pittodrie stadium at the Energy Cities Challenge Cup to encourage young people to play football.
Aberdeen will play Norwegian side Viking Stavanger in the free-to-enter challenge match on September 4, which brings together the main teams from Europe’s largest oil cities.
“We have strong links with Aberdeen Football Club and are proud to be working with them to provide activities for young people in the build up to the friendly match with Viking Stavanger,” said Streetsport’s
Andrew Wood.
“Streetsport teams have been busy throughout the summer across the city and all of our sessions have been very popular. As well as providing constructive activities for young people the Streetsport project a great way to connect with those who are disengaged and may not have had the opportunity to develop their confidence, skills and self-belief.”
Pitches will be set up from around 6pm, ahead of kick-off at Pittodrie at 7pm. Click here for more details.
