Subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) group Harkand has taken over an additional 9,107 square feet of office space at Ocean Spirit House in Aberdeen’s Waterloo Quay.
The expansion is to allow room for more people at the rapidly growing firm, plus a project-management and engineering support hub.
Harkand, which has its European headquarters in the city, has created nearly 40 positions in Aberdeen in the past year following investment by Oaktree Capital Management.
The extra space at Ocean Spirit House almost doubles the firm’s presence in the four-storey building, with it previously having occupied 10,753 sqft.
It will put Harkand’s growing project-management and engineering support teams under one roof, alongside staff supporting international marine operations.
The group’s workshop at the Nord Centre in Clipper Quay continues to be the focus for maintenance and technical support and a central hub for supply chain and logistics.
David Kerr, managing director for Europe with group subsidiary Harkand ISS, said: “This move signifies a long-term investment for us and underlines our commitment to our clients and to driving our European operations from Aberdeen.
“We have created a great deal of positive momentum in our business since the group’s formation and we hope to build on this further in the months and years to come.”
Harkand employs 750-plus people at bases in Aberdeen, Dubai in the Middle East and Singapore and Perth in Asia-Pacific.
