A company specialist has taken the opportunity at Offshore Europe to prove the oil and gas industry can benefit from the transferable skills former services personnel have on offer.
Sky-Futures, who specialise in UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) operation, have showcased their services at Bilfinger Salamis’ training centre as part of this year’s exhibition.

“Oil and gas is a really good fit for people coming from the military,” James Harrison, Sky-Futures commercial director told Energy Voice.
“They are used to working in austere environments and critical infrastructure so our background is pretty much embedded in the very core processes that you find in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the offshore.”
Funded in 2009 by two ex-military staff, Sky-Futures now consists of several teams working in the Baltic Sea, Norway, Europe and North Africa.
