Aberdonian businessman Mike Dear has come out on top in a US quest to find the chief operating officer of the year at large private companies.
Mr Deer is CFO at Wood Group Mustang, a Houston, Texas-based subsidiary of Aberdeen energy service giant Wood Group.
His accolade came from the Houston Business Journal, which awards the honour in recognition of “financial strategists who display outstanding leadership”.
The judges look for individuals who have overcome challenges, successfully tackled exceptionally difficult situations and added value to their companies.
Mr Dear moved to Mustang in late 2009 from the parent in Aberdeen, where he had served as group financial controller since 2006.
He has been with Wood Group since 2004 and prior to his role as group controller was chief financial officer of Wood Group’s light industrial turbines business.
