Middle East offshore engineers Lamprell has landed one of the largest deals in its history after winning a major rig refurbishment contract.
The $64million deal, which will be executed at the company’s facility in Sharjah, will see the firm carrying out refurbishment of the MOS Frontier rig for Millennium Offshore Services.
The multi-purpose jackup unit, bought by MOS earlier this year, will be converted into an accommodation support vessel capable of holding around 290 people.
“Lamprell has a well-established track record for undertaking major rig refurbishment projects and so it is pleasing that one of our existing clients has awarded us a new contract for one of the largest refurbishment and conversion projects in our history,” said chief executive James Moffat.
“Rig refurbishment remains an area of traditional strength for the group and it is encouraging to have been selected by MOS for this high profile project.”
