Norway’s Petroleum Directorate says it is on course to complete its acquisition of new seismic data of the Barents Sea by next month.
The Artemis Atlantic vessel has been conducting scans in the northeastern part of the region, with 8800km of data already completed.
The new scans come after 21 companies bought the directorate’s scans of the southeastern Barents Sea and Jan Mayen area earlier this year.
“The operation has been successful so far,” said the directorate’s Lars Jensen.
“Progress has been good, and we have acquired 69 per cent of the lines we want.”
The aim is to complete 12,800km of seismic scans by mid-October.
