Australian firm Matrix Composites and Engineering is to provide subsea installation buoyancy for the country’s giant Gorgon gas project.
The company has agreed with Subsea 7 to provide subsea buoyancy for their heavy lift tie-package, allowing tie-in operations at depts of up to 4,429.
Matrix will manufacture the subsea buoyancy at its composites plant in Henderson, Western Australia.
The Gorgon project will see a 15.6million tonne per year liquefied natural gas plant being built to process gas from two fields off the coast, with the the capacity to supply 300 terajoules of gas per day.
