One of the partners involved in the proposed Peterhead Carbon Capture project has launched a new joint venture to strengthen its position in the CO2 market.
Shell Cansolv has agreed a deal with French services group Technip to work together in providing engineering, procurement and construction for carbon capture projects.
The deal will see them sharing expertise, with Cansolv’s carbon capture technology being linked with Technip’s background in designing and managing EPC projects.
“Our team of experts will together ensure we deliver the high standards and satisfactory returns our clients expect,” said Shell Cansolv president Philippe Gauthier.
“By doing so, we will continue to demonstrate that Shell Cansolv is a world leader in deploying post-combustion CO2 capture on a significant commercial scale.”
Shell are one of the partners, along with SSE, in the £1billion project to capture carbon dioxide emissions from Peterhead Power Station and transport it offshore for storage beneath the North Sea.
Earlier this year Cansolv and RWE captured the first tonne of CO2 from the Aberthaw Power Station in Wales.
