Turkmenistan-focused Dragon Oil says production on its Cheleken contract area has risen 7% year on year after a rush of activity in the last three months.
The company has successfully completed two wells on the prospect, which are now producing and due to be tested.
The Dzheitune (Lam) C/183 well was drilled and completed as a dual producer to a depth of 2,758 metres in August. The depth of the Dzheitune (Lam) C/184 well was 2,900 metres and it was completed as a single producer in September.
Meanwhile, production on the Dzheitune (Lam) 13 platform is up 500-700 barrels of oil per day per well, following the installation of jet pumps in two wells on the site this summer.
Average production at Cheleken in the last three months was around 74,300 bopd, up from 69,600 bopd for the same period last year. September’s average output was 74,000 bopd, 1,800 bopd higher than the previous period.
The company’s focus has now moved to the Dzheitune (Lam) C/185 well, one of the remaining two wells to be completed by the jack-up rig before the end of the year.
