The giant Breagh gas field in the North Sea will start first production ‘shortly’ after technical problems at its onshore processing plant were finally resolved.
The RWE Dea-operated field was originally scheduled to start production in August, before being forced to delay production until September by technical problems.
However, last month it emerged that heat exchangers at the Teeside processing plant had been damaged and required remedial work before the field could start up.
“First gas production at Breagh is expected to commence shortly, with the heat exchanger issues at the Teesside Gas Processing Plant having been resolved,” said project partner Sterling in a statement.
The news comes as production test results for the latest development well in the field showed good results.
The 13,173ft well, drilled 2.8km south of the Breagh Alpha platform, showed a production rate of 22million standard cubic feet per day.
Sterling said the well should be tied in and producing before the end of 2013.
